Our programs provide an encouraging, non-intimidating vibe that makes every member feel they are part of our Community. Everything at Bulldog Bootcamp & CrossFit can be scaled to your current fitness level – so in a typical class you will see soccer moms next to active military next to high school students. Every person works together to achieve the same goal: constantly improving his or her fitness level.
Although diverse, BDCF athletes all have something in common: they like to train hard and have a good time. We host and participate in a wide range of activities and events inside and outside the gym — biking, running, adventure racing, BBQ’s, You’ve never had so much fun getting fit!
You’ll find that our coaches take the extra time to help you move properly and improve technique. Our coaches are there for you whenever you have questions and need that extra help. We always demonstrate every movement, every time, to make sure you know exactly what you are doing.

Greg is President and CEO of Bulldog Bootcamp & CrossFit and has been a certified personal trainer since 1989. A lifelong athlete, he played semi-pro football in the 1980s, won the Chicagoland Natural Bodybuilding title in 1992. In addition, Greg completed his first marathon in 2000 in Chicago.
“The Major” is an avid inline roller speed skater. In 1998 he set the record for the Northshore Inline Marathon (26.2 miles) in his age group (1hr 6mn 24sec.) which still stands today. In 2005 won the Hoyt Lakes, MN 1/2 marathon and finished 2nd in the Pro Veterans (age 45+) division at the Northshore Inline Marathon.
“The Major” is very passionate about helping people achieve their fitness goals and helping them live a healthier, fit lifestyle. He fulfilled his life’s calling by establishing Bulldog Bootcamp Co. with his wife, Michelle, in January 1999. Greg discovered CrossFit in 2007 and realizing it was perfect fit with his philosophy on fitness, opened Bulldog CrossFit in February of 2009.
Greg has competed at the CrossFit Games in the 55-59 division twice, finishing 11th in 2012 and 13th in 2014 and just missing out in 2015 finishing two spots out of the top 20 advancing to the games.
In addition to running Bulldog Bootcamp & CrossFit, Greg is committed to teaching his two daughters that being active and fit is lot’s of fun.
Suzanne comes to Bulldog Bootcamp & CrossFit with a full fledged athletic background in track & field as well as a prosperous career in Personal Training.
Suzanne, otherwise known to her co-workers as “Friday” and her students as “Coach” or “Sgt Friday”! She is a 1996 graduate of the University of South Dakota where she received her BS in Psychology and minored in Physical Education with an emphasis in Exercise Science. As a track & field athlete for USD, Suzanne ran the 55m hurdles indoor and was a 400m hurdle outdoor specialist. In 1994 Suzanne competed at the national level as one of the top 10 women in the Div II 55m hurdle championships in Indianapolis IN. After graduation Suzanne moved to Chicago to pursue her career as a Personal Trainer.
Over the last 20 years here in Chicago, she has done private one-on-one training at an exclusive North Shore health club, had her own in-home personal training business both on the North Shore & in the city, to finally landing her position with Bulldog Bootcamp & CrossFit in 2006
While in Chicago, Suzanne has trained and completed multiple marathons, half-marathons, road races and obstacle course challenges. She has been involved in multiple CrossFit competitions both locally and nationally and continues to compete today. She has won several CF competitions and placed 2nd overall at the St. Cloud, MN Granite Games in 2014 and 2017. Suzanne truly enjoys practicing, expanding & spreading her fitness knowledge to her friends, family and team members or anyone who will listen.
Suzanne’s passion for all things Bootcamp & CrossFit is hi-lighted by the amazing staff she works with on a daily basis, the friendships she’s made and the lives she’s helped change through fitness.

When Wendy is not out saving cats (TNR) from the mean streets of Chicago, you can find her at Bulldog Bootcamp & CrossFit as their General Manager extraordinaire. She has been with Bulldog since 2001. If you don’t find her slaving away at her desk, she is most likely conducting/assisting CrossFit classes, or sipping an Americano. Wendy enjoys teaching new clients the method of CrossFit and seeing their personal gains and transformation. Wendy does not have a sports background but that doesn’t stop her from participating in CrossFit team events. Her motto…”If I can do it, so can you.”
I started playing sports at a young age with my brothers and neighbor. We would play whatever sport was in season, from baseball and football to hokey and soccer. As I grew older I played in organized leagues and also in high school. After high school, my athletics fell off, until I started working as a firefighter. Once I decided firefighting was going to be my chosen profession, I also decided I needed to be in shape to do the job. I started lifting weights, mostly benching and curls. I expanded my weightlifting practices through research and finding what was working for other people. I also started running. I felt the workouts were helping, but I wanted something more job appropriate. At this point, another firefighter showed my the Crossfit webpage and we started doing the workouts from there. Finally my friend Doug brought me to Bulldog Crossfit. I enjoyed the workout, but I knew the coaching was what I really needed. After a couple years, I decided to get my Level One Crossfit certification so I could pass on some of the things I have learned over the years. I tend to gravitate to the Power lifts (Squat, Deadlift and Bench) or the Olympic lifts (Clean, Jerk and Snatch), but I also work at the stuff I’m not as good at (gymnastics and cardio). I usually coach a class or two during the week and then run Power Hour on Saturdays and help with the Olympic lifting class on Sunday. Let me know if I can help you.
Mark has been an athlete at BDCF since 2010. He has been involved in functional training since 1992 when he was assigned as a parachute infantryman in the United States Army. After returning home he began a career in Emergency Medical Services and Fire Suppression. He is currently a Firefighter/ Paramedic with a local municipality. Mark is a CrossFit Level One Trainer and a USAA Sports Performance Coach. He coaches BDCF’s Olympic Lifting class on Sundays and helps out during the week in the mornings.
Bulldog Bootcamp is an intensive 4-week program based on a combination of strength and cardiovascular exercises. Drill instructors keep things lively by integrating push-ups, pull-ups, squats and other strength builders with running, sprinting drills and plyometrics designed to increase speed and build cardiovascular endurance.

CrossFit is a core strength and conditioning program. We have designed our program to elicit as broad an adaptational response as possible. CrossFit is not a specialized fitness program but a deliberate attempt to optimize physical competence in each of ten recognized fitness domains.
Our Bootcamps take place in an outdoor setting and focus on body weigh exercises, running drills and plyometrics to train strength, endurance and agility. CrossFit classes take place indoors at Bulldog CrossFit in Oak Park. The structure of our CrossFit classes is more like a school. In addition to the intense workouts you receive on going instruction on proper form and functional movement. Because CrossFit uses external weights such as barbells and kettle bells, proper lifting form is essential.
Each workout lasts for 1 hour. It starts with a warm-up jog and finishes with a cool down stretch.
Each class is allotted 1 hour although often it can be less depending on the workout. Each class includes a warm-up, a skill session, the WOD (Workout Of the Day), and cool down time.
NO! The point of our program is to GET you in shape. There are really only two basic fitness requirements we have: (1) we ask that your physician approves of you participating in our program, and (2) because our program involves some running just about every day, we need you to be able to complete a mile in some combination of running and walking.
If you are not able to finish a mile, we recommend that you work with one of our trainers one-on-one to get you past that hurdle and and be ready to join the troops.
Remember that we are not comparing you to anyone else—we are here to make sure you are fulfilling YOUR potential and doing YOUR best. You shouldn’t! Our program is not like that. Our trainers are positive and encouraging motivators, not cowardly name-callers. Sure, we play the part of drill instructors by raising our voices a bit and pushing you to do your very best, but you will only experience the most professional attitude from our staff of top-notch drill instructors. You may work out every day, but do you get the most out of your workout? Our program will help those who need motivation to work out regularly, but it will also provide someone like you, who already has the discipline to exercise on a regular basis, with that extra boost to get you fitter, faster, and stronger, than ever before. Our group environment will help get you to a level you didn’t think possible.
Take sprint drills for example. You know if you’ve ever tried to do sprints on your own that they are (a) no fun, and (b) hard to make yourself do faster than the last time you did them. Even if you are the solo runner type, you will appreciate having other runners to compete against AND our drill instructors there to help motivate YOU to move your body faster than ever before!! That’s just one example, but you get the idea. Bottom line, we think you’ll love our program and we KNOW you’ll see results.
