Do you know which rep in your workout is the most important? I'll give you a hint…it's not the last rep. It's actually that rep that didn't count. It's that push-up that we took away because you were a little too snakey on the way up, or that box jump that didn't count because you didn't open your hips all the way. THOSE are the most important, because it shows the character of our gym.

Long before the first WOD in the CrossFit Open was ever announced, there was a lot of chatter in the community about "cheating". Essentially, the whole damn Open is set up on the honor system. Affiliates watch their athletes complete the WODs, and then validate their scores accordingly. Scores must represent WODs that were done to the high standards of CrossFit HQ, and must be completed within the allowed time frame. Are there ways around this? You betcha. But you won't find any of that crap going on in my gym.

Let's talk about the honor system. More specifically, let's talk about honor.

    Honor – noun
    1. honesty, fairness, or integrity in one's beliefs and actions

Honor and integrity go hand in hand. Honor is taking away reps even though it will hurt your team's score. Honor is watching your fellow CrossFitters struggle, but still telling them their squat wasn't low enough. Honor is doing the right thing, even when nobody is watching.

I thank all of you for helping us uphold our high standards throughout the Open. Thank you for preserving the honor of Crossfitt, and the quality of the standards we are representing.
